Members of the Chaparral Rockhounds support and maintain the lapidary room at the Roswell Adult Center. Typically, club members work in the lapidary room on Monday mornings from 8:00 - 12:00, and will begin evening hours on Thursday evenings in May 1999. Several members of the club act in the capacity of instructor, and remain present during these times.

The lapidary shop offers a wide variety of lapidary equipment, including slab and trim saws, grinding units (including diamond) and other lapidary equipment. Many club members engage in jewelry-making and stone carving activities, and information on techniques is shared freely around the shop.

Periodically, classes are offered for beginners, and guests are always welcome to stop by and pick up a few tricks, offer advice, or inquire about the identification of a specimen.
