Organization
The Chaparral Rockhounds was organized in April 1968 as a New Mexico Corporation for charitable, educational and scientific purposes as defined by section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue code.
The elective officers are the President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer, with each being elected for a term of one year. Three Directors are also elected to serve for three years.
Committees are formed by presidential appointees, and serve to support the club’s numerous ongoing activities.
Routine club business is handled at monthly Board/Committee meetings, with a short report given at the regular club meetings. To further keep our members and friends informed about our activities, the club issues a quarterly bulletin called Chaparral Chatter. Reports and stories of fieldtrips, shows and meetings are published therein, in addition to news about individual club members.
